The “Willis” big bore CNC lathes are designed and constructed with the latest technology, and built with the highest quality materials and components.  The rigid construction of the bed, which is hardened to over 50Rc and precision ground, provides for heavy turning with high accuracy.  The “Willis” big bore CNC lathes will cut any thread or taper desired.  The main spindle is supported by preloaded, high precision bearings that ensure consistent and accurate turning through the entire speed range.  The headstock spindle, shaft, and gears are made from alloy steel, hardened and then ground, which allows for higher turning speeds at lower sound levels.  A metered, automatic lubrication system with a low-level alarm provides oil to machine slide ways and X and Z axis ball screws.  High precision ball screws are mounted in precision bearings, which ensure long life, superior cutting performance and great accuracy.  These machines are designed with a full-length rear splash guard and front moving chip guards with observation windows in order to provide a safe, clean work area.  The rear splashguard also has a removable panel for easy access and maintenance.  Two manual pulse generator (MPG) hand-wheels, one fixed to the machine and one remote, allow the operator to easily maneuver the desired axis.  The powerful inverter motor for the machine spindles is equipped with an all-digital “Yaskawa” inverter for peak performance.  These machines are equipped with a 3- speed headstock for maximum power and torque over the entire speed range. 
                The “Willis” big bore CNC Lathe has the most convenient control and hand-wheel configuration available.  The control panel screen is mounted on a swivel for optimum operator comfort and performance, while the MPG hand-wheels are perfectly located for the operator’s use.
