Our special power down feed parts are so strong, they can be used over 3,000 RPM spindle speeds. Our 1 piece cluster gear is superior to the much used 3 piece design.
Our design uses splined shafts which are much stronger and more rigid than the keyed shafts.	Heavy duty knee with box ways provide the rigidity needed for superb support over the full range of travels.	1050II and 1250II tables are capable of supporting loads from 1,100 – 1,500lbs, respectively.

Willis Conventional Knee Mills

“Willis Machinery” offers five different models of knee mills, both conventional and CNC.  They range from the model WM3VS, “Bridgeport” style, 3 horsepower (3HP) variable speed, R-8 spindle machine with a
9” x 49” table, to a massive 5 horsepower (5HP), 40 taper spindle, “Bridgeport” Series II style machine
with a 12” x 59” table providing 47” of x-axis travel.

The models 1050 and 1050II are dovetail and square (box) way machines respectively.   These machines are 3 horsepower (3HP), R-8 spindle machines, with an optional 30 taper spindle.  The model 1250II is a
5 horsepower (5HP), 40 taper spindle machine, with square (box) ways. 

The WM3VS has a rounded ram and column.  The models 1050, 1050II, and 1250II have heavy duty
square rams and columns with substantial knees and saddles.  These machines all have “Meehanite” castings with hardened and ground ways with “Turcite” coating the adjacent surfaces.

The models WM3VS through 1250II are optionally available with electronic variable speed, through a “Yaskawa” inverter, known as the “EV” (electronic variable) models, providing up to 5000RPM spindle speeds.  EV spindle speeds are infinitely adjustable through a potentiometer. 

The models WM3VS through 1250II are supplied both conventionally and as a CNC. 
The 1250II head is designed for extra rigidity, with right to left tilt, but without a front to back knuckle.
Optionally available are electrical box packages (option C.) providing a low volt electrical box with transformer, 110 volt outlets, emergency stop button, flood coolant package with switch, and an electronic forward/reverse switch.

“Willis” 5000VS Knee Mill
Series II Type Knee Mill

                The “Willis” 5000VS, series II style, knee mill is equipped with an oversize 59” x 12” table which travels an industry leading 47” x-axis by 15” y-axis travel.  An extra wide 33 ½” saddle, providing maximum support for the table, allows a 1650 lb table load capacity(when centered).  A metered auto lubrication system is standard.  This machine’s huge 40 taper head is driven by a 5 HP motor.  The “Willis” 5000VS knee mill is equipped with a 12 speed gear box providing powerfeed and  rapid traverse functions on the x-axis, all driven by a 2HP powerfeed motor.  Also standard on the 5000VS is a rapid traverse function on the z-axis.  An optional powerfeed is available for the y-axis.  This extra large series 2 type knee mill has wide, square ways.  The machine ways are hardened and ground.  The opposing surfaces to the ways are coated with “Turcite”.  “Willis” knee mills are all constructed from “Meehanite” castings and the 5000VS weighs 4,950 pounds.  An electrical box provides 110 volt outlets and a flood coolant system is standard.  This 5HP, 40 taper head, “Bridgeport” series II style, knee mill has the largest x- axis travel available.
